Advocates are turning to judicial bodies to fight for social justice. Economic, social and cultural (ESC) rights in international and national law provide a strong foundation for litigation efforts. And litigation can be an effective tool in ensuring the ESC rights of vulnerable communities are respected, protected and fulfilled.

COHRE's Litigation Programme supports and promotes litigation through:

• Publishing resources • Maintaining case law databases • Litigation before courts, tribunals and international bodies • Intervening as amicus curiae before courts, tribunals and international bodies • Giving legal advice to NGOs and others • Providing training • Maintaining a global network of lawyers • Advocating for better complaint mechanisms.
