Legal Resources for the Right to Water and Sanitation (Sources 8)
Legal Resources for the Right to Water and Sanitation compiles and describes international, regional and national legal provisions and case law that give effect to the human right to water and sanitation. It addresses the human right to water and sanitation in its complete form, entitling all persons to sufficient, safe, acceptable, physically accessible and affordable water for personal and domestic uses, in or near their homes, workplace or educational institution. Equally, every person is entitled to have access to adequate and affordable sanitation in or near their homes, workplace or educational institution.
The objective of Sources No. 8 is to provide governments, international organisations and civil society with the overview over the relevant legal resources necessary to determine the scope and content of the right to water and sanitation. The book also provides examples of how the right to water and sanitation or elements thereof may be included in national constitutions and laws and enforced by national courts as well as by international and regional human rights treaty bodies.
